I did! I’m as surprised as you. I didn’t volunteer. I was walking the opposite direction and as I passed she just explained to me that she was going the way she was facing, as though I’d asked perhaps, and latched on to an arm. So I did an about face and some poor SUV (!) had to wait as I crossed a total of three times in front of it.

I tried helping an old lady cross the street once. She started hitting me and I had to put her down. Seems like your method was much more effective.
