Those BASTARDS!

I was thinking of writing a letter to MGM Home Entertainment. I could start it, "Dear BASTARDS..."

I was hanging out at what seems to be a rare attraction recently - a Borders Books and Music location here in the small town of Connecticut. After concluding the freeloading portion of my visit, I wandered into the currently too-large-for-its content DVD section, in hopes of picking up not only the new rerelease of Ed Wood, but the latest chapter in the continuing Cube Series.

But then there's the whole deal they like to pull, with buying a certain amount of DVDs so that you can get one for free. The really tricky part can be finding the disc you'd like for free. After a lot of searching, a lot of consulting the computer to find my choices were out of print or out of stock, I noticed John Carpenter's Escape From New York behind a copy of The Passion of The Christ. Now, since I found both of my other two movies behind two other copies of The Passion of The Christ, I took this as the sign I needed to pick my last movie. (Donnie Darko was another movie found in every section of the DVD dept., curiously enough)

Anyway, Robert Rodriguez cites the movie as a reason he's a filmmaker, so it's been on my list for a little while. It would almost certainly be worth free, I reckoned.

So I take it home, and look what I find! Those BASTARDS!

Here are some places I can't use this DVD. Those BASTARDS.

You could click on them for larger images, but that won't fix the damage inflicted on my DVD by those BASTARDS.

I don't even have one of these, but I can tell you right now that's not gonna work. Those BASTARDS!

At the end of the day, I could probably get this free DVD replaced for free, and since the tab is on the pan-and-scan side of the disc this will probably never be an issue, but honestly, those BASTARDS!
